Arrival & Coastal Birding
Upon arrival at Banjul International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by our team and transferred to your hotel. After settling in, we begin our birding adventure with an afternoon walk at Kotu Bridge, a hotspot for waders and waterbirds. In the evening, enjoy a welcome dinner and trip briefing.

Abuko Nature Reserve
Today we explore Abuko, Gambia’s first protected area and a paradise for forest birding. Walking through its gallery forests and bushland streams, we encounter a variety of woodland and riverine species. Key Species: Green Turaco, Fine-spotted Woodpecker, White-faced Scops Owl

Kiang West National Park
An early departure takes us to Kiang West, one of the largest and most diverse reserves in the country. Here we discover savannahs and woodlands, while also enjoying breathtaking views of giant baobab trees. Key Species: Violet Turaco, Yellow-crowned Gonolek, Red-necked Falcon

River Gambia & Mangroves
A scenic boat trip leads us to Lamin Lodge, drifting through lush mangroves where fish eagles and herons abound. Between sightings, we pause for a traditional Gambian lunch overlooking the river. Key Species: African Fish Eagle, Goliath Heron, Malachite Kingfisher

Tanji Bird Reserve
At Tanji, we explore the coastal wetlands and observe seabirds along the Atlantic shore. A visit to the nearby fishing village adds a cultural touch, followed by afternoon birding in Bijilo Forest Park.

Pirang Forest & Final Birding
Our final full day takes us into Pirang Forest Reserve, an excellent site for rare and localized species. This is also the perfect chance to revisit any habitats or species we may have missed before gathering for a farewell dinner.
