Tour Overview

Our seven-day birding tour in The Gambia is a unique journey into one of West Africa’s most rewarding birding destinations. Whether you are in search of exotic species or hoping to immerse yourself in the natural beauty of the country, this tour offers an unforgettable experience guided by our competent, experienced, and passionate bird guides who know and love the land deeply. The adventure begins along the Gambian coast, where a variety of habitats unfold in quick succession. From open savannah grasslands alive with raptors and ground dwellers, to tranquil lagoons along the beach fringed with mangroves, to dense gallery forests and riverine stretches dotted with rice paddies and farmlands—each landscape reveals a new chorus of birdlife.
One of the highlights of the tour is Kotu Creek, a site well-known among birdwatchers for its remarkable biodiversity. Here, visitors are often rewarded with sightings of both resident and migratory birds. Common Greenshank and Common Redshank feed along the shallows, while flashes of color announce the presence of Malachite and Blue-breasted Kingfishers. The striking Pied Kingfisher hovers effortlessly above the water, and the Giant Kingfisher commands attention with its size and presence. Pelicans drift gracefully across the creek, while the Oriole Warbler, with its bright plumage, adds song to the scene. The White-crowned Robin-Chat is another favorite, often found hopping playfully through the undergrowth.
